This is the resource page for Folders Popup translators.
|
Folders Popup was originally written in English. Help for translation to other languages would be appreciated. English proof checking help would also be appreciated (English is *not* my native language).
This page is open for translation offers, suggestions, comments or question.
Those who are willing to engage in the translation process will have access to the Folders Popup translator's resources. According to one of the translators, you will need 8-10 hours for the initial translation. After that, there will be occasional updates translation. This is generally less that 10 pieces of text. But I would expect you to be able to translate these updates within a few days, if you can.
See the list of language currently translated.
Thanks,
Jean
Jean,
I like the program really a lot and I'm willing to support you for the translation to Dutch.
How much effort would it take me?
Regards,
Pieter
Great. Thank Pieter you for your offer. I'll create a new page on my site dedicated to translations and move your comment to this page. Then, I'll ask Edi who did the german translation to give you an idea. I will also post the text files to translate. I wont be able to do this today but real shortly. Thanks again.
Hi Jean,
looking forward to start with it.
Regards,
Pieter
Hi, Pieter.
From my point of view it's not too hard to translate the texts.
I worked on it for some time, but had more or less breaks of a few days between the parts.
If I had to guess the time, I would say about 8-10 hours in total.
Most "effort" is, to check the sentrences and words in the actual program, so that you can see the context of the phrases/words you are about to translate.
The work itself is pretty much straight forward. Just translate the texts from top to bottom of the file... ;-)
If you have any additional questions regarding the translation "job", please drop me a note.
By the way: Dropbox works fine for this (although it's proprietary...)
Greetings
Edgar "Fast Edi" Hoffmann
Folders Popup v2.1 released today now include the Dutch translation.
Many thanks to Pieter Dejonghe!
To whom can I send a mail containing some remarks about the Dutch (my native language, btw) translation?
Regards,
Geert
Hello Geert.
Pieter who did the translation will send you an email at the address entered when you posted your comments.
Mail from Pieter received. I'll pass him my remarks. Thanks Jean.
The menu items “Suspend Hotkeys”, “Pause Script” and "Exit" are not translated.
Is that because it are menu items added by AutoHotKey?
Regards,
Geert
You are right, Geert. These menu are AHK system menus and, to my knowledge, cannot be changed.
Hi Jean,
I have a small layout issue for you.
In the dialog where you add/edit an menu item the Dutch translation of a label is rather long and that reveals that the label's width is limited by the width of the text box beneath.
(see this screenhsot)
Thank you Geert. I fixed this. It will be in the next release (no planned date yet).
Thank you. (Sorry that I didn't see you moved this post here - no mail received)
Sorry. I just replied to the wrong address and did not see the bounce...
Hi. I've been using your app for some time and it's been very useful to me and some of my friends, but most of them don't read English nor the available languages in the app. I'd like to help translating it to Spanish.
Hello César. This is great news! Spanish is the 2nd most spoken language in the world, after Mandarin but before English! Are you from Spain or Central/South America?
I'll send you an email at your gmail.com address with info on how to access our Dropbox resource folder. Thanks a lot for offering this.
Unfortunately, César was not able to do the Spanish translation. Thank you anyway, César.
If someone would like to do it, just let me know here or at ahk@jeanlalonde.ca.
Thank you for your good program.
I want to translate it to Korean language.
How can I do that?
안녕하세요 dollnamul,
Thank you for offering to do this translation. Honestly, I never thought I’d see one of my software Korean! :-)
I took some time to check if my development environment was OK to produce executable with Korean language (Unicode, etc.) and it is OK. We may have dialog box layout challenges but let’s start and we’ll find solutions.
According to Edgar, you will need 8-10 hours for the initial translation. After that, there will be occasional updates translation. This is generally less that 10 pieces of text. But I would expect you to be able to translate these updates within a few days, if you can.
Thank you again and let me know when you are ready to start. I’ll put the file to translate to KO in Dropbox (see link in this page initial post) and invite you.
I can start anytime. :-) I'm pleased that I can help you.
Great! I just sent you the Dropbox invitation. We use Dropbox to exchange files. You can use Dropbox web site if you prefer not to install it on your PC. But if you do install it, this is more convenient.
I can take care of Swedish translation if you want that. Excellent application btw...
Thank you for offering this, Eson. I'll follow-up with you by email.
I am available to translate for the italian version, let me know what to do possibly.
Congrats I am fond of what you have been able to realize by autohotkeys, with my best regards
ricardo
Thank you for the offer Ricardo. I'll follow up with you by email.
I could translate into Brazilian Portuguese if you have interest.
Yes Igor, thank you for offering! I'll follow up with you a later today by email.
Hi, I can help Chinese (Both Traditional and Simplified). Glad that I can help this great tool. :-)
I hope the translation. (KOREAN)
Please tell me how I can participate in the translation process.
Thanks for you offer 4Li. But Folders Popup is already available in Korean. My new program (replacing FP) is by Quick Access Poppup (https://www.QuickAccessPopup.com). But I do not plan to plan add new languages at this time.
