After upgrading to 5.0.1, I am no longer able to open folders in same window using Hotkeys. All hotkeys open in new window. Can I delete program and go back?

Thank you, John, for reporting the issue you are facing. Hotkeys to open folders in the current (Win-A) or in a new window (Shift-Win-A) were not changed in v5.0.1. So, I could not reproduce this issue.

To start from scratch, all you have to do is to delete (or move to keep a backup) the FoldersPopup.ini file. To locate it, open the file right-click the FP Tray menu and select "FoldersPopup.ini"). At its first run or when the ini file is deleted, FP creates a brand new ini file with all the defaults values, including standard hotkeys.

If you want to preserve your current favorite folders and files, make sure you keep a copy of the ini file and restore it when this hotkeys issue is solved.

This being said, here is how to unsinstall the program. If you used the standard setup tool, select the menu "Start Menu, Folders Popup, Uninstall Folders Popup". Or, if you choose the portable install, all you have to do is delete the program.

      Hope this helps.

Hi John. For the record I'll mention here what you've already read below. The issue you faced was due to a bug when the drag and drop technique is used to add folder. These favorites are incorrectly set as "Application favorite". This is fixed and will be released in the next beta version (in the next days) and the official v5.1 in the next 5-10 days.

Not sure if this is by design:
When I add folders by drag and drop to the settings window, these folders will always open in a new WinExplorer window when triggered from within save dialogs. Which is not what I want, I want them to navigate the save dialog to their locations, to save thern.

If however, I add folders via the "Add this folder" command, while sitting in a save dialog, it will later navigate the save dialog to the folder location, exactly as I hoped it would.

Less important: I don't want key shortcuts for the menu hotkeys - but it seems I MUST assign them, no way to leave them empty?

Thanks for a really outstanding tool, very useful.

      Stefan, on this topic:

      >Less important: I don’t want key shortcuts for the menu hotkeys – but it seems I MUST assign them, no way to leave them empty?

You can select "None" in the dropdown list of the "Change hotkey" dialog boxes. This is the first item in the list. Not very obvious, I agree. This could be made more self explanatory. I take a note on this.

And than you for your good words.

    Thanks so much Stefan.

That was what did it. I added them by drag and drop and so open in same window was not available. It always opens in new windows which of course doesn't work when opening in a program.

    Thanks for the feedback, John

glad I am not the only one who has this problem. I noticed that when you drag and drop, it thinks you are dropping a document or an application - not a folder. It doesn't recognize we're dragging a folder. Instead it treats the object as something different. It also does not give it the folder icon.

In my case, I am presented with a dialog that asks for the application name (!!!) , parameters etc - stuff you'd expect for an .exe file but not for a folder.

If you copy the same path, however, and add it via the settings window > ADD button, you get a choice to tell the program what this is - a folder - and then it works.

      Hi John and Stefan.

Yes, I can see what is happening. I'll take a look at the code tonight or tomorrow and, if it is what we think, I'll fix it for the next release. Thanks for reporting this.

And do not hesitate to register to the beta test updates if you want to see it before the official release. All you have to do is to install the current beta version (v5.0.9.3) from this page: http://code.jeanlalonde.ca/folderspopup-v51-beta-tests/

This is fixed. The favorite type was incorrectly set as an "Application favorite" instead of a "Folder favorite" when added using the drag and drop technique. This wil be released in the next beta version (in the next days) and the official v5.1 in the next 5-10 days. Thanks again Stefan.
